Orange
Use
The Orange test measures the level of specific IgE antibodies against the allergen 'Orange' in the patient's serum. This test is used to help diagnose and manage allergies by determining sensitization to the allergen. Elevated levels of specific IgE are an indication of a possible allergic response to Orange, which can be associated with symptoms such as itching, swelling, and difficulty breathing upon exposure to the allergen.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum specimen, which should be collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. It's important to ensure that the specimen is stable for the duration specified under storage conditions to avoid degradation.
Limitations
The Orange test does not diagnose allergies on its own but rather indicates the presence of specific IgE antibodies. A combination of test results, clinical history, and other diagnostic procedures should be used in allergy diagnosis. Cross-reactivity with other allergens may occur, and false positives are possible if low levels of specific IgE are detected.
