Allergen, Food, Orange IgG
Also known as: ORANGE IGG
Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgG antibodies to orange, providing information on the patient's sensitization to this specific food allergen. IgG antibodies are different from IgE antibodies, and their presence indicates exposure rather than a true allergic reaction. This test is used to aid in the identification of foods that might contribute to non-IgE mediated hypersensitivity or delayed allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
This test is not New York state approved and should not be submitted if the sample is intended for New York state. Special specimen collection instructions must be followed to ensure adequate volume is collected for accurate testing. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, and the appropriate volume must be transferred to an ARUP standard transport tube.
Limitations
Values less than 2.00 mcg/mL are considered absent or undetectable for allergen-specific IgG antibodies. The test is developed as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) with performance characteristics determined exclusively by ARUP Laboratories. It's not FDA cleared or approved, which implies limitations in its application outside a CLIA-certified environment. Interpretation of results should consider the potential for cross-reactivity and the clinical context of the patient's symptoms and history.
