Papaya Food
Use
The Papaya Food test is designed to detect the presence of specific IgE antibodies directed against papaya in the serum. This test is useful for diagnosing potential allergic reactions to papaya, which can manifest in symptoms ranging from mild to severe in sensitive individuals. Accurate identification of IgE-mediated food allergies is crucial for developing appropriate dietary management plans and avoiding exposure to allergens that may trigger allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
The test requires a serum sample collected in a red-top or gel-barrier tube. The specimen should be kept at room temperature when transported, and is stable for up to 14 days at room temperature or refrigerated. For longer storage, serum samples can be frozen for up to 3 months and remain stable through three freeze/thaw cycles.
Limitations
The test is designed to detect IgE antibodies specific to papaya and may not identify all potential allergens or sources of allergic reaction. False positives or negatives are possible, and the test results should be interpreted as part of a comprehensive clinical assessment. Interference from other antibodies or substances in the serum may affect test results. The test does not indicate the severity of an allergic reaction or predict future risk of anaphylaxis.
