Renin Activity, Plasma, Eight Specimens
Use
The Renin Activity, Plasma, Eight Specimens test is used to measure the renin activity in plasma across multiple time points. It is often used in conjunction with treatments involving drugs or other stimuli to assess changes in renin activity as part of diagnostic evaluations for conditions related to blood pressure regulation, kidney function, and fluid balance.
Special Instructions
This test panel requires the collection of multiple tubes at different time intervals after an initial baseline draw and subsequent administration of treatment such as a drug or glucola. It is important to ensure no collection is done before clinician approval if the series is ordered without a confirmed stimulus plan.
Limitations
A key limitation for this test is that no frozen samples or samples not separated properly can be used. Additionally, non-EDTA plasma specimens or samples showing gross icterus are not acceptable, which might affect the accuracy or viability of the test results, necessitating re-collection under appropriate conditions.
