Tilapia
Use
This test measures specific IgE antibodies to Tilapia, which is used to help diagnose an allergy to this particular fish. Detecting elevated levels of IgE antibodies specific to Tilapia can indicate an allergic reaction, which may be useful in conjunction with clinical evaluation and other allergy tests. The test results can aid clinicians in creating personalized management strategies to reduce exposure and manage symptoms for allergic patients.
Special Instructions
Samples should be collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. The test uses the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology for detection of specific IgE antibodies.
Limitations
The results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history. False positives may occur, and negative results do not rule out food allergies. The presence of specific IgE may indicate sensitization, but not necessarily clinical symptoms. Cross-reactivity with related allergens can occur.
