Special Instructions
Patient should abstain from alcohol for 24 hours prior to collection. For children younger than six months, blood should be drawn before the next feeding. Blood collections should occur before breakfast and prior to any medication to ensure accurate results. If a red-top tube is used, the serum should be transferred to a plastic transport tube to maintain sample integrity.
