C‑Peptide Response to Glucose, 4 Specimens
Use
C‑Peptide measurement during a glucose challenge is useful for assessing pancreatic beta‑cell function—distinguishing type 1 from type 2 diabetes mellitus, evaluating insulin‑secreting tumors versus exogenous insulin administration, and during glucose tolerance testing; C‑peptide is also more resistant to hemolysis than insulin and thus often preferred during GTT evaluation.
