Celiac Disease Comprehensive Panel with Gliadin Antibodies (Age 5 and Under)
Also known as: Deamidated gliadin, Pediatric celiac disease
Use
This panel provides comprehensive serologic assessment for celiac disease in children aged 5 years and under by measuring multiple antibody markers (gliadin IgG and IgA, tissue transglutaminase IgG and IgA). It supports diagnosis in early childhood when selective IgA deficiency may confound interpretation of IgA-based assays, ensuring detection of disease using both IgA and IgG–based markers.
Special Instructions
Reflex testing: If tTG IgA is positive (≥15.0 U/mL), reflex to endomysial antibody (IgA) screen with reflex to titer (CPT 86255, then CPT 86256 if positive). If IgA is low based on age-specific reference ranges, or IgA <31 mg/dL when age not provided, tTG IgG is performed reflexively (CPT 83516).
Limitations
Interpretation may be limited by IgA deficiency; age‑appropriate IgA reference ranges must be applied. Reflex testing may incur additional charges. Gross hemolysis or lipemia may affect assay performance. Limited to children age 5 and under; age‑based reference ranges must be used.
