Childhood Allergy (Food and Environmental) Profile: Puerto Rico
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This profile tests for specific IgE antibodies to 12 food and environmental allergens commonly found in Puerto Rico that are potential causes of childhood allergies. Allergen‑specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in certain clinical scenarios. However, a positive result indicates sensitization but not necessarily clinical allergy; many sensitized individuals remain asymptomatic. Diagnosis should be rendered by a qualified provider following comprehensive clinical assessment. Reference: Bernstein IL, et al. Ann Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2008;100(3 Suppl 3):S1‑S148.
