Cyclosporine A, Trough, Immunoassay, Blood
Also known as: Sandimmune®
Use
Cyclosporine (Cyclosporin A) is an immunosuppressant therapeutic agent used in the prevention of organ graft rejection. Measurement of blood levels is recommended due to the inter‑individual variability of metabolism as well as the toxicity associated with excessive dosage. Therapeutic drug monitoring helps optimize dose and avoid toxicity, as high levels may lead to nephrotoxicity and low levels may risk organ rejection.
Special Instructions
Collect as a trough, 12 hours after last dose. Preferred specimen: lavender‑top (EDTA) tube; refrigerated transport. Patient preparation and collection timing are critical for accurate trough measurement.
