Endomysial IgG Antibody Screen and Titer
Use
The endomysial IgG antibody test serves as a secondary autoantibody assay, particularly used when total serum IgA is low or when clinical suspicion for celiac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis is high despite negative IgA‑EMA or tTG antibodies; it helps assess gluten‑sensitive enteropathy in these contexts.
Special Instructions
Order concurrently with perilesional skin biopsy for direct immunofluorescence if diagnosing dermatitis herpetiformis. Requires completed Immunodermatology Laboratory requisition form and two-sided insurance card copies.
Limitations
Hemolyzed or lipemic serum, or whole blood specimens may yield anomalous results and should be avoided.
