Use

This assay aids in the diagnosis of infection or exposure to roseola infantum and human herpesvirus‑6 (HHV‑6). It may also be useful in the evaluation of chronic fatigue syndrome. HHV‑6 is the causative agent of roseola infantum, characterized by abrupt high fever followed by rash in infants; while typically self‑limiting, it can occasionally lead to neurologic complications. Atypical presentations may occur without rash.
