Adenovirus by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: ADENOV IHC
Use
The Adenovirus by Immunohistochemistry test aids in the histologic diagnosis of adenovirus infections. This test is particularly useful for identifying adenovirus in tissue samples, facilitating accurate and timely diagnosis to guide appropriate patient management and treatment decisions. The presence of adenovirus can indicate acute infections affecting a variety of tissues and organs, which need precise identification for effective treatment.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. For additional technical details, contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787.
Limitations
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only, which means that interpretation of the staining results needs to be conducted by the requesting physician based on the tissue's clinical context. It is not suitable for specimens with non-representative tissue type or depleted specimens. Since it is an immunohistochemistry-based test, there may be limitations in detection sensitivity depending on the expression levels of adenovirus in the tissue.
