Special Instructions
Submit one specimen per test requested. Specify the exact specimen source/origin (e.g., lesion type or site). Indicate the specific test number on the request form. Use appropriate air‑dried slides without fixatives when preparing smears.
Limitations
Quality of specimen may influence sensitivity; non‑culture direct detection may fail to detect low‑levels of virus. Negative results do not rule out infection. Additional confirmatory or reflex testing may be required depending on clinical context.
