Allergen, Food, Almond
Also known as: ALMOND
Use
This test measures the level of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to almond. It helps in the diagnosis and management of almond allergy, providing insight into the patient's sensitivity and potential reaction severity. The results assist healthcare providers in determining allergy presence, guiding dietary recommendations, and considering additional clinical evaluations or management strategies, especially for patients with suspected food allergies.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. For multiple allergen orders, refer to "Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions" at www.aruplab.com/testing/resources/specimen.
Limitations
Allergen results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist interpretation as the clinical relevance of these ranges is undetermined. The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE observed in this test may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or the results of skin testing upon allergen challenge. Negative results do not rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. The correlation of laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential.
