Allergen, Food, Brazil Nut
Also known as: BRAZIL NUT
Use
This test is used to detect specific IgE antibodies against Brazil Nut. It aids in the diagnosis and management of Brazil Nut allergies and provides information about the probability of IgE-mediated clinical reactions. The test results can help in understanding a patient's sensitivity to Brazil Nut and guide the clinical management of allergy symptoms.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during the collection process. Ensure to separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours after collection. If multiple allergen tests are being ordered, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' available at the lab's website.
Limitations
The clinical relevance of allergen results in the 0.10-0.34 kU/L range is undetermined and is intended for specialist use. The concentrations measured may not directly correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin test results when challenged. A negative result does not rule out a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. It is crucial to correlate laboratory results with the patient's clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens.
