Allergen, Food, Zucchini IgE
Also known as: ZUCCHINI
Use
The Allergen, Food, Zucchini IgE test is used to quantitatively measure the level of IgE antibodies specific to zucchini allergens in the patient's serum. This test aids in the diagnosis and management of allergic reactions to zucchini, a type of food sensitivity. It helps clinicians determine the likelihood of an allergic response upon exposure to zucchini, thereby supporting clinical decision-making in the context of allergy management and dietary guidance.
Special Instructions
Please ensure proper specimen collection and handling to maintain the integrity of allergen testing. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. If multiple tests are ordered at once, separate specimens must be submitted for each.
Limitations
The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and separate specimens are required for each allergen ordered, which may complicate simultaneous testing scenarios. The results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical and laboratory findings, and there may be variability depending on the individual's unique immune response profile. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may not provide accurate results. The test is not FDA-cleared or approved, which may influence the interpretation of results in certain regulatory environments.
