Allergens, Food, IgG Panel
Also known as: IGG FOOD
Use
The Allergens, Food, IgG Panel is intended for the quantitative measurement of IgG antibodies specific to common food allergens. The clinical significance of elevated IgG antibodies to food allergens is not well established as IgG responses may occur as part of a normal immune response. It is important to interpret results in conjunction with the clinical presentation and other diagnostic information. This test provides individualized allergen-specific IgG levels that may help guide dietary management and further allergen exposure evaluation.
Special Instructions
This test should not be submitted to ARUP if it is intended for a New York patient, as it is not approved by the New York State Department of Health. Ensure proper specimen collection and handling as per the Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions available on the ARUP Laboratories website.
Limitations
The detection of IgG antibodies to specific food allergens does not necessarily correlate with clinical allergy and should not be used as the sole basis for the diagnosis of food allergies or to guide dietary changes. IgG responses might occur without any clinical symptoms, representing past exposure rather than an indicator of allergy. The results should be interpreted in the context of a full clinical evaluation by a healthcare professional.
