Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1 Antibody, IgA
Also known as: B2GPI A
Use
This test is used as a preferred second-line test when seronegative antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is strongly suspected. It is ordered incrementally or concurrently with other noncriteria antiphospholipid antibody tests. It may also be useful in estimating the risk of thrombosis and/or pregnancy-related morbidity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection and transfer to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
Plasma or other body fluids are unacceptable. Contaminated, hemolyzed, grossly icteric, or severely lipemic specimens are also unacceptable for analysis. Multiple freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided as they may affect the stability of the specimen.
