Chromosome Analysis, Leukemic Blood with Reflex to Genomic Microarray
Also known as: LKB REFLEX
Use
This test is used for the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of hematopoietic neoplasms. It includes a Chromosome Analysis to detect abnormalities in chromosome structure or number. If the karyotype is normal or there's no growth, the test reflexes to a Genomic Microarray (Oligo-SNP Array), which provides a higher resolution analysis for detecting micro-deletions or duplications that may not be visible under a microscope.
Special Instructions
This test involves culturing of living cells, and the turnaround times are subject to various factors. A processing fee is charged if the procedure is canceled after setup or if specimen integrity is inadequate. Clinical indication and specimen type are required with the test order to ensure appropriate processing.
Limitations
This test may not detect all chromosomal rearrangements or mutations. Certain genomic alterations, including CNVs below the platform's resolution, point mutations, indels, balanced chromosomal rearrangements, and low-level mosaicism may not be detected. The detection sensitivity varies based on tumor content and genomic region complexity.
