MPO/PR3 (ANCA) Antibodies
Also known as: MPO/PR3
Use
The MPO/PR3 (ANCA) Antibodies test is used to monitor previously established MPO/PR3 antibodies or confirm an IFA ANCA positive test result. It's crucial for assessing patients with a history of vasculitis and helps in the workup of suspected vasculitis. Approximately 90% of patients with a P-ANCA pattern by IFA have antibodies specific for MPO, while 85% of patients with a C-ANCA pattern by IFA have antibodies specific for PR3.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The test excludes ANCA testing by IFA, which can be critical in comprehensive diagnostics for vasculitis. The results are specific to MPO and PR3 antibodies and don't account for other possible antibodies that may be involved in similar clinical presentations. Results can be impacted by specimen conditions such as contamination, hemolysis, or severe lipemia.
