Use
14-3-3 eta protein is a joint-derived, proinflammatory mediator that is implicated in the joint erosion process and pathogenesis of RA. Serum 14-3-3 eta is elevated in both early and established RA.
Special Instructions
Specimens for 14-3-3 eta testing must be handled with care. Serum must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of collection to ensure the integrity of the specimen. The test helps in identifying patients with early RA by providing additional diagnostic sensitivity.
Limitations
This test was developed by LabCorp and its performance characteristics determined internally. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which might impact its acceptance or availability for use in some clinical settings.
