The combination of rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti–cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibodies provides greater specificity for diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis (RA). CCP antibodies may be present earlier than RF and often indicate increased erosive disease in RA.
