Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Profile
Use
The Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Profile is a diagnostic tool used to help in the diagnosis and management of rheumatoid arthritis. It includes tests for cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibodies and rheumatoid factor (RF), which are important markers in identifying RA. Detecting these antibodies can aid physicians in diagnosing RA at an early stage, improving patient management and potentially slowing the progression of the disease. This profile is particularly useful for patients presenting with symptoms consistent with rheumatoid arthritis, providing critical information to tailor appropriate treatment strategies.

Limitations
While the RA Profile is an essential tool in diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis, it is not definitive on its own. False positives may occur, and both CCP and RF levels can be elevated in other conditions or in healthy individuals. Presence of these antibodies should be used in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests. The sensitivity and specificity may vary across different population subsets. These tests also do not indicate disease severity or predict disease course.
