Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) Profile II
Use
This profile serves as an aid in the diagnosis of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA).
Special Instructions
The test includes Immunoglobulin E, Total; Aspergillus fumigatus Antibody, IgE; Aspergillus fumigatus Antibody, IgG; and a Complete Blood Count (CBC) With Differential. Ensure serum and whole blood samples are collected in specified containers and meet the volume requirements for accurate testing.
Limitations
Not all cases of ABPA are caused by Aspergillus fumigatus. IgG to non-fumigatus strains may not be detected by the ImmunoCAP® A. fumigatus IgG assay, potentially leading to false negatives. Comprehensive testing, including Labcorp's extended Aspergillus Precipitating Antibodies, IgG assay, may be required for detecting most species involved in Aspergillus-related lung diseases.
