Anaplasma phagocytophilum (HGE) Antibody, IgG, IFA
Also known as: Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia, HGE
Use
Detection and semi-quantitation of serum IgG antibodies to Anaplasma phagocytophilum as an aid in the diagnosis of human granulocytic ehrlichiosis
Special Instructions
Specimens should be free of bacterial contamination, hemolysis, and lipemia. Ensure proper specimen labeling and timely specimen handling to avoid sample rejection.
Limitations
The test is limited in that it may not distinguish between current and past infections due to the persistence of IgG antibodies following exposure. False positives may occur due to cross-reactivity with other organisms, and negative results do not necessarily rule out infection as IgG levels might take time to become detectable. Testing schedules and procedures may vary, and additional confirmative testing may be required.
