Anti-La (SS-B) Ab (RDL)
Also known as: La Ab, SSB Ab
Use
Autoantibodies to La/SS-B antigen are detected by enzyme immunoassay in 70% to 90% of primary and about 50% of secondary Sjorgen's syndrome as well as 30% of SLE and 80% of subacute cutaneous lupus and a majority of infants with complete heart block.
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells within one hour of collection. Transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
Limitations
The test may not detect all cases of disease in which autoantibodies to La/SS-B antigen may be present. The presence of these antibodies can be indicative of various autoimmune disorders, but the test alone cannot diagnose a condition. Interpretation should be made considering clinical findings and results of other tests.
