Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Ab (ANCA) by Indirect Immunofluorescence (IFA) (RDL)
Also known as: ANCA Ab, Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Ab (ANCA)
Use
Although C-ANCA and P-ANCA are typically of the IgG isotype, C-ANCA are frequently reactive with PR-3. P-ANCA frequently react with MPO. ANCA/MPO antibodies are found in 30% in glomerular basement membrane disease (Wegener's Disease). 88% of patients with vasculitis-associated pulmonary hemorrhage have elevated IgM ANCA, whereas no patients who are IgM ANCA-negative have pulmonary hemorrhage. IgA ANCA is associated with Cholangitis, Kawasaki disease, Cystic fibrosis and Henoch-Schonlein purpura.

Limitations
The performance characteristics of this test were developed and determined by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, which limits its recognition as a diagnostic tool by regulatory authorities. The test is subject to interference from hemolyzed, lipemic, or icteric specimens, and results may be affected by bacterial contamination or non-serum specimen types.
