Anti-PL-12 Ab (RDL)
Also known as: Anti-histidyl- tRNA synthetase, Anti-histidyl-tRNA synthetase autoantibodies, Anti-PL-12, PL-12 Ab
Use
Anti-histidyl-tRNA synthetase autoantibodies are the most common MSA, comprising 30-40% of Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies (IIM), although PL-12 specifically is seen in less than 5% of IIM. Anti-Synthetase antibodies can be found in polymyositis, dermatomyositis or overlap myositis. Symptoms associated with these antibodies include non-erosive arthritis, ILD, fever, mechanic's hands and Raynaud's.
Special Instructions
The test involves separating serum from cells within one hour of collection and transferring it to a plastic transport tube before shipping. Separate frozen specimens should be submitted for each test if multiple tests on frozen samples are requested to avoid delays in turnaround time.
Limitations
The test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Thus, results should be interpreted in the context of clinical findings and should not be used as the sole criteria for diagnosis.
