Cashew Nut IgE with reflex to Component
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to cashew nut. A positive result indicates sensitization to cashew allergen, though sensitization does not necessarily confirm clinical allergy. Reflex testing to component (e.g., Ana o3) will be performed when the IgE level is ≥ 0.10 kU/L to provide more specific protein-level information.
Special Instructions
Reflex testing will be performed and billed separately if indicated. Additional component testing occurs automatically based on IgE threshold (≥ 0.10 kU/L).
Limitations
A positive IgE test indicates sensitization but may not correlate with clinical allergy. Clinical correlation by a trained provider is essential.
