CD23, IHC with Interpretation
Use
CD23 is a dendritic cell marker and acts as a B‑cell growth and activation factor. It is strongly expressed on B cells and monocytes, including robust expression on Epstein‑Barr virus–transformed B lymphoblasts. This marker is particularly useful in identifying B‑CLL (B‑cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia/lymphoma), mediastinal large B‑cell lymphoma, and lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, and may aid in differentiating B‑CLL from mantle cell lymphoma or MALT lymphoma.
Special Instructions
Ideal fixation time for all immunohistochemistry & biopsy specimens is 6‑72 hours in 10 % neutral buffered formalin per CAP guidelines. Slides or tissue block should be transported in IHC specimen transport kit or slide folder, at room temperature.
