Chlamydia and Chlamydophila Antibody Panel 1 (IgG)
Use
This serology panel detects IgG antibodies against three species—Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, and Chlamydophila psittaci—to assess past exposure or infection. Interpretation of results requires clinical correlation, and titers below the reference levels (<1:64) suggest no current infection while higher titers may indicate prior exposure or presumptive infection.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Serologic testing for Chlamydia species may exhibit cross‑reactivity among species and may not reflect active infection; IgG may persist for extended periods. Serology is not recommended for acute diagnosis of C. trachomatis and may require confirmatory molecular testing. Additionally, timing of specimen collection (too early) may result in false‑negative IgG, and elevated titers require clinicopathologic correlation.
