Use
Cortisol, P.M. measures cortisol levels in the blood during the late afternoon, useful in evaluating disorders of cortisol production such as Cushing’s disease (elevated cortisol) and Addison’s disease (adrenal insufficiency).
Special Instructions
Collect specimen between 3–5 p.m.; indicate collection time on specimen container and test requisition. Assay is not recommended when patient is receiving prednisone/prednisolone therapy due to cross-reactivity with the antibody used in this assay.
