Use
Immunohistochemical staining for CD68 using the KP1 clone helps identify macrophages, monocytes, and related cell lineages in tissue or cells. It is a technical stain-and-return service without pathologist interpretation, used to assist in determining histiocytic or myeloid lineage in pathology specimens.
Special Instructions
Submit via electronic request or use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is unavailable. Provide tissue fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin and paraffin-embedded, or slides as described. Protect slides or blocks from heat, ship in ARUP tissue transport kit #47808, and do not oven bake precut slides. Ship at room temperature or refrigerated; cooled container recommended in summer.
Limitations
Technical stain only; no interpretive comments are provided. Unacceptable conditions include depleted specimens or non‑representative tissue. Stability is indefinite under ambient, refrigerated, or frozen conditions. This is only a technical service and not designed for diagnostic interpretation.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin embed specimen (cells must be prepared into a cellblock).
Storage Instructions
Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Transport tissue block or 5 unstained (3‑ to 5‑micron thick sections), positively charged slides in a tissue transport kit (ARUP supply #47808). If sending precut slides, do not oven bake.
Causes for Rejection
Depleted specimens. Specimens submitted with non‑representative tissue type.
