Cytokeratin 7 (CK 7) by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CYTO 7 IHC
Use
Cytokeratin 7 (CK 7) immunohistochemistry is used as a qualitative stain to assess CK 7 protein expression in tissue or cellblock specimens. It aids in diagnostic work‑ups of epithelial neoplasms, particularly to help differentiate tumors based on patterns of cytokeratin expression, and serves as a stain‑and‑return technical service on formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded specimens.
Special Instructions
Submit electronic request for this stain; if electronic ordering is unavailable, use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. Refer to the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for ordering details. The test is performed as a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only.
Limitations
The test requires representative tissue/cell specimens; non‑representative or depleted specimens are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Slides should not be oven‑baked. The stain is qualitative and interpretation depends on quality of fixation and preparation; technical and interpretive limitations inherent to immunohistochemistry apply.
