Drugs of Abuse Test, Alcohol, Urine - Screen with Reflex to Confirmation/Quantitation
Also known as: CDASUALC
Use
This test is used to screen for acute alcohol ingestion utilizing a semi-quantitative enzymatic assay, with potential confirmation and quantitation through gas chromatography-flame ionization detection if the initial screen returns a positive result. It aids in identifying alcohol consumption, assessing non-compliance or timing issues relative to drug administration, and detecting limitations in testing efficacy due to diluted or adulterated specimens.
Special Instructions
If the screen is positive, additional confirmation by gas chromatography-flame ionization detection is automatically performed, leading to extra charges. It is important to indicate 'NEWBORN' on the test request form if applicable.
Limitations
The test may provide presumptive negative results for alcohol indicating non-compliance, timing issues, or testing limitations such as poor absorption, dilution, or adulteration. The concentration detection capability can vary within a drug class. Results are specifically for medical purposes and are not valid for forensic use.
