Hepatitis B Virus Panel, Chronic with Reflex to HBsAg Confirmation
Also known as: HEPCHRONIC
Use
This test is used to monitor patients with chronic hepatitis B infection who are known to have a positive Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). It helps determine the degree of infection and monitor the development of immunity. The test provides qualitative results for several hepatitis B virus markers, offering insights into the stage of infection and potential clinical outcomes.
Special Instructions
Order this panel when the patient is known to have chronic hepatitis B infection. If HBsAg results are repeatedly reactive with an index value between 1.00 and 50.00, HBsAg Confirmation will be added, incurring additional charges. This test should not be used for blood donor screening or related protocols.
Limitations
This panel of assays is not suitable for blood donor screening or associated reentry protocols. It does not screen for human cells, tissues, and cellular- and tissue-based products (HCT/P). False positives can occur with HBsAg; therefore, clinical evidence should support results, and repeat testing may be necessary to clarify diagnosis. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical data to provide an accurate diagnosis.
