HBV Triple Screen Panel with Reflexes
Also known as: HBV Staging Serology Screening, Hepatitis B Acute/Chronic Screening, HBV Serological Assessment, Hep B screening, Hep B panel
Use
The HBV Triple Screen Panel with Reflexes is a comprehensive hepatitis B virus (HBV) screening panel designed to assess a patient’s HBV infection and immunity status in accordance with CDC triple‑panel recommendations. It helps determine whether a patient is currently infected with HBV (via detection of surface antigen), has ever been infected (via core antibody), or is immune (via surface antibody), and includes reflex testing to distinguish acute from chronic infection, or resolve equivocal findings.
Special Instructions
Includes reflex testing as needed; biotin supplementation may interfere—patients should stop biotin intake (e.g., mega‑doses at least 72 hours prior; routine doses at least 8 hours prior).
Limitations
Assays have not been established for non‑serum/EDTA plasma body fluids; acute‑chronic differentiation and HDV coinfection identification require reflex testing; interference from biotin may skew results.
