Hepatitis Panel, Acute with Reflex to Confirmation
Also known as: Acute Hepatitis Panel with Reflex
Use
This panel is intended to detect acute or recent infections with hepatitis A, B, or C by measuring markers indicative of acute infection and reflexing reactive or presumptive results to confirmatory testing. It is used in symptomatic individuals or for screening of acute viral hepatitis.
Special Instructions
Dietary supplements containing biotin may interfere with assay results; draw sample at least 8 hours after routine biotin supplementation or 72 hours after mega‑doses. Reflex confirmation testing for hepatitis B surface antigen positives and HCV antibody reactive or borderline results will occur automatically at additional charge.
Limitations
Interference from biotin supplementation may skew analyte results. Reflex confirmation tests incur additional charges. Interpretation should consider the timing of symptoms relative to serologic responses.
