Bowel Disorders Evaluation Rule-out Cascade
Also known as: Celiac Disease, Gluten Sensitivity, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Use
This test is intended to aid in the diagnosis of gluten sensitivity in patients with symptoms suggestive of this condition. It can aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease, IBD, differential diagnosis of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), nonceliac gluten sensitivity and IBS.
Special Instructions
If reflex test is performed, additional charges/CPT code(s) may apply. Testing begins with a celiac screen and cascades through additional steps if initial results are negative. Endoscopy with biopsies remains the gold standard for diagnosis.
Limitations
Results of this profile should be used in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests. Neither tTG IgA nor DGP IgG strictly confirms or rules out celiac disease. Similarly, the presence of ASCA IgG or atypical pANCA does not confirm IBD.
