Immune Complexes, C3d Circulating
Also known as: C3d, Complement c3d, Complement c3dg, Complement ic3b, Raji cell, Quantitative
Use
For the measurement of C3d-bound circulating immune complexes (CIC) present in human plasma or serum.
Special Instructions
It is recommended that separate frozen specimens be submitted for each test requested to avoid delays in processing. Specimens should be frozen on dry ice within six hours of collection to ensure validity.
Limitations
False-positives may occur in the presence of antilymphocyte antibodies. This assay does not detect noncomplement fixing CIC, and occasionally, positive specimens may not confirm due to contamination, heat inactivation, or presence of human IgG antibodies binding to mouse IgG. The assay's design means specimens demonstrating false positives may still have concomitant CIC that would confirm positive under other conditions.
