Oregano
Use
The Oregano test is used to measure the specific IgE levels in serum related to oregano allergen exposure. This test is beneficial for identifying patients with potential allergic responses to oregano. The results help in diagnosing oregano allergy and assist healthcare providers in developing appropriate allergy management and treatment plans.
Special Instructions
The test requires serum collected in either a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube for accurate analysis. Specimen stability is up to 14 days at room temperature or refrigerated, and up to 3 months when frozen. Blood draw should adhere to standard serum collection procedures to ensure the integrity of the sample.
Limitations
This test exclusively measures IgE specific to oregano and does not provide insight into other potential allergens or conditions that could affect the patient's health. Although stable across multiple freeze/thaw cycles, improper handling can affect results. The test does not replace allergen challenge testing and should be interpreted alongside clinical observations.
