Paprika/Sweet Pepper

Use
This test is used to determine the presence of specific IgE antibodies to paprika and sweet pepper in the patient's serum. It is helpful in diagnosing allergic reactions related to these specific allergens, which belong to the Capsicum family. Sweet peppers, such as bell peppers, paprika, and pimento, can cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
Special Instructions
This allergen test is not related to peppercorn spices such as green and black pepper. Ensure proper handling and storage of serum samples to maintain sample integrity for accurate test results.
Limitations
As with most allergen-specific IgE tests, results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests. False positives can occur, and cross-reactivity may happen with other allergens within the same botanical family.
