Rabbit Epithelium
Use
The Rabbit Epithelium test measures levels of specific IgE antibodies to rabbit dander and epithelium, a common allergen. This test helps in assessing allergic sensitizations which can cause allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, and other allergic conditions. By identifying specific IgE antibodies, healthcare providers can better understand and diagnose allergies related to rabbit exposure.
Special Instructions
Use the red-top tube or gel-barrier tube for specimen collection. Ensure the serum is stable during transportation by adhering to the recommended storage conditions.
Limitations
The test may show a negative result even if the individual has minor sensitivities due to its detection limits. Cross-reactivity with IgE for similar allergens or proteins can occur, leading to false-positive results. External factors such as recent allergens exposure can affect results. The result of this test is to be used in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic methodologies for a comprehensive assessment.
