Streptococcus pneumoniae IgG Antibody (23 Serotypes), MAID
Also known as: Pneumococcal Ab, 23 Serotypes
Use
Quantifies IgG antibody levels to 23 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae; useful for assessing pre-existing immunity or response to vaccination and evaluating humoral immunodeficiencies. Serologic correlates of protection are not fully established; expert guidance suggests thresholds (eg, ≥0.3–0.5 µg/mL for healthy children; ≥1.3 µg/mL for immunocompromised or noninvasive disease). Interpretation must consider individual immune status and vaccination history.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Protective concentrations for each serotype are not defined; IgG quantitation does not measure functional activity such as opsonophagocytosis; results may vary with age, vaccination history, or immune status. Interpretation should be done in context of paired pre/post‑vaccination samples to minimize assay variation.
