Allergen, Food, Grape
Also known as: GRAPE
Use
This test quantifies allergen-specific IgE antibodies to grape, aiding in the diagnosis of allergic conditions where grape is a suspected allergen. It is useful for understanding whether a patient's allergic symptoms might be mediated by IgE antibodies specific to grape. Results are used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and other diagnostic tests to assess a patient’s allergy status and management.
Special Instructions
Multiple encounters with the patient should be avoided to ensure consistent test results. Ensure proper specimen collection and handling according to the provided guidelines. For multiple allergen tests, refer to proper collection instructions.
Limitations
Results of allergen-specific IgE levels, even if elevated, may not correlate directly with the severity of clinical allergy symptoms or predict anaphylaxis. Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic tests. Certain specimen conditions, like hemolysis or lipemia, may lead to test rejection.
