Grape
Use
The Grape test measures levels of IgE antibodies specific to grape allergens using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology. It assists in diagnosing allergic responses related to grape consumption which can manifest as various allergic symptoms. The test results can guide clinical decisions and patient management in individuals showing allergic reactions potentially due to grapes.
Special Instructions
Ensure the collected serum is properly labeled with the patient's information. The serum should be transferred immediately to the red-top or gel-barrier tube and appropriately stabilized at either room temperature or refrigerated, based on expected transport timelines.
Limitations
Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic findings. Cross-reactivity with other allergens may occur, leading to potential false-positive outcomes. High levels of IgE might indicate sensitization rather than explicit allergy, requiring comprehensive clinical correlation. Test accuracy might be affected by improper specimen storage or repeated freeze-thaw cycles beyond recommended limits.
