Also known as: ANTI IGA
Use
This test is used prior to transfusion or in the case of possible transfusion reactions to determine the presence of anti-IgA antibodies in patients with selective IgA deficiency. Patients with IgG antibodies against IgA may suffer from anaphylactoid reactions when given intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) that contains small quantities of IgA.
Special Instructions
Test is not performed at ARUP; separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Storage/transport temperature for specimens is frozen, though room temperature or refrigerated conditions are acceptable.
