CD19 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD19 IHC
Use
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain of CD19, a B‑cell lineage marker expressed on normal and neoplastic B cells (and follicular dendritic cells), used to confirm B‑cell lineage in pathological specimens. It is applied as a technical (stain-and-return) service without pathologist interpretation, serving as an ancillary diagnostic tool in evaluating hematolymphoid neoplasms.
Special Instructions
Submit via electronic request or using ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic capability is unavailable. Use ARUP Connect™ or contact ARUP Client Services. Formalin-fixed, paraffin‑embedded tissue or cell‑block required; protect from heat. Send tissue block or at least 5 unstained (3–5 µm), positively charged slides in ARUP transport kit #47808. For precut slides, do not oven bake.
Limitations
Only provided as a technical stain service; interpretation not included. Unsuitable for non-representative or depleted specimens. Frozen specimens unacceptable. Slides must be positively charged and handled to preserve immunoreactivity. Does not include pathologist interpretation; ordering of separate pathology consultation required for diagnostic interpretation.
