Use
This test provides detection of muscle-specific actin in tissue specimens using immunohistochemical staining. It serves primarily as a stain-and-return technical service, aiding in the identification of muscle differentiation in tissues. It is valuable in pathology workups to support histologic evaluation of muscle origin or differentiation in lesions.
Special Instructions
Ordering is via electronic request or by using ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form #32978 along with an ARUP client number. Refer to the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for ordering recommendation.
Limitations
This is a technical stain-and-return service only and does not provide interpretive results. Specimens unsuitable include non‑representative tissue types or depleted specimens. Frozen specimens are unacceptable.
